Saving You Chap 10

He didn't want to wake up again.
He knew he would still be down there, stuck to be tortured.
He'd rather not wake up at all. Ever.
But he knew he had to, he felt himself gain back consciousness so slowly.
To his surprise, it felt nice and dry, unlike the damp cell; and he didn't feel that aura of impending doom. Everything felt perfect for one golden second. And he felt a familiar touch on his hands. That, of course, was before his nerves decided to remind him he'd spent the night in the cell of a certified psychopath.
He couldn't hold in the groan of pain that came out. Immediately, whoever was next to him, held his hand tightly.
"It's gonna be Ok, Roy" Jade said "can you hear me? Its gonna be ok"
"He woke up?" that had to be Green Arrow
"Yes, but he won't open his eyes" Jade said, then her voice sounded closer "Roy, don't you dare die on me know, if you do, I swear I will kill you"
He tried to tell her that made no sense, but his head was getting fuzzy
"Got him on some strong pain killers" Green Arrow said "No sense in him suffering so much"
"Don't worry Jade; we'll get him to a hospital real soon"

"And if you die, then the Titans will miss you"
"And so would Green Arrow"
"You can't die after all the effort we put into saving you"
"You can't die right after we found each other"
"You can't die; you're going to be a father"
"You…mean too much to too many people to die"
"You can't die Roy; you can't die because I love you. And if you die…"
That was it; he couldn't stand being in a half coma any longer. He forced his eyes to open, and his head to turn towards where he knew Jade was. She was always there; he knew she hadn't left once in all those times he'd been half conscious. He didn't know how long it had been since the incident, what was going on in the world outside, and frankly, he didn't really give a damn about it right now.
All that mattered was that young woman sitting next to his bed, trying very hard to be composed and telling him why he was not allowed to die.
"Jade" he managed "you saved me"
It wasn't a question, but a simple statement.
She looked at him and smiled, he was relieved to find that there were no tears streaming down her face.
"Did he… hurt you, Jade?"
She laughed "no…"
There was a pause, in which they simple stared at each other
"I'm sorry" he said
"Why are you sorry? None of this was your fault"
"Even though I tried to protect you and saved you… I couldn't" because I got hurt, and that hurt you even more
She shook her head "You saved me, Roy, more than you know."
She took a deep breath "You saved me because you love me, and I guess love can do many things"
"It's such a small word, though, isn't it?" Roy pointed out
"Size doesn't matter to words" Jade mused "love, war, peace, hate, life, death, human…. All those words are small, but they mean a lot"
"Everything's going to change now, eh?" Roy asked as he managed to sit up on the hospital bed, he scooted aside carefully and patted the spot next to him
Jade obliged him and sat down. She took his hand and smiled "Yeah, but who says that's a bad thing?"
